POLOKWANE – Limpopo police were on the hunt for a man who raped four college students at gunpoint at a Tlharihani TVET College residence in Bolobedu last month. Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Stephen Thakeng said some of students were asleep at about 23:10 on that Saturday and one went out to fetch water.
“Suddenly she screamed for help,” Thakeng added. According to police, the complainant saw an unknown African man wearing a black balaclava, black jersey, blue jeans, black gloves, and white sneakers. He was armed.
Eight students were instructed to undress and four of them, aged 20 and 21, were raped, Thakeng added. The man fled on foot after taking a Samsung A04 and Nokia C10. “A case of armed robbery and four counts of rape were registered for further investigation.”
Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has instructed police to use all their available resources to track and trace the man.
